Some parishioners share with the priest the privilege of bringing the body and blood of Christ to the people at Mass. Some also bring Holy Communion to those who are sick. They are invited to do this by the Bishop and renew their commission yearly on Holy Thursday.
Some parishioners are commissioned to read the word of God in church. This is a very important ministry as we all need to hear the word of God so that we can learn to live out of that word. Those who share this ministry have the approval of the bishop.
Altar Servers assist at Mass. Girls and boys are eligible once they have made their First Holy Communion. They are required to serve regularly and reverently.
Children’s Liturgy Group
During term time children are taken out during the first part of the Sunday 10.30am Mass and helped to look at the liturgy of the day at their own level of understanding. This takes place in the parish centre and monastery in two age groups. Volunteer helpers welcome.
The choir leads and encourages singing during the 10.30am Sunday Mass and at weddings and other special occasions. Meetings are held monthly, on Thursdays, to arrange hymns, and on other occasions for rehearsal. New singers are always welcome.
The group provides the music for the 6.00pm Vigil Mass on Saturday. Membership is open to all ages, and instrumentalists and singers are always welcome. There are regular rehearsals.
